Goals for the Shieldbreaker were as follows:
– Provide a stress-healing alternative for blight-based groups
– Tone down Pierce while still maintaining her identity as a tank-killer
– Simplify skills and ensure each skill has a clear purpose
– Match the animations more closely to the effects
In my hero reworks I try to give each “type” of party (bleed, blight, mark, and standalone) access to healing, stress healing, and a double stun. I feel that limited access to these effects is a big reason that players often feel forced into the same few hero combos (ex. Occ/Hellion, Vestal/PD, Vestal/Jester). It’s also important that each option feels different from the rest and provides a unique dynamic to the group. When I mapped out this table, it became clear that Shieldbreaker needed to be the blight stress healer, as it fits her dancer theme and provides some meaningful variety to her skills.
